Medela
Medela SpringExpress
The Medela Spring Express uses a piston and the large muscle of the arm creating less stress than those manual pumps using the hand. Insertion of the spring into the cylinder provides assistance in the piston release to complete the suck, relax, release cycle similar to a baby's sucking pattern.
Instructions: For expressing milk from the left breast, hold the flange section with the left hand. With the right, push the piston in fully allowing the spring to assist in returning the piston to its original position. Reverse for expressing milk from the right breast. By using the arm opposite of the breast being expressed, the large muscle of the arm is used creating an easy pump session.
The hospital gave me one of these pumps when I had my son in 2012. I thought it was a joke. After all, I had a nice electric pump at home. One day out of curiosity I used this manual pump. It worked amazingly better than the electric pump. So, when my daughter recently shared with me the problem she was having with pumping her milk, I knew this was the pump she needed. So, I called a friend who worked at the hospital that I had gotten the pump from in 2012 and found out that it was a Medela. I went online and found it. My daughter says it’s a dream.
