Special Addition

VIRTUAL Breastfeeding Class for Singletons

$50.00

VIRTUAL.  Special Addition's Breastfeeding Class helps prepare you with information for breastfeeding success.  There are many steps you can take to prepare for breastfeeding, and you don't have to wait  until after the birth of your baby to start.  This class is an important step for expectant parents and can lay the framework to help you prepare for feeding your newborn.  It will prepare you and your support person with everything you need to know about breastfeeding including the steps you can take before birth, so the breastfeeding experience is smoother for mom and baby.

Attending a breastfeeding class with a qualified International Board Certified Lactation consultant can help you better understand how to establish a healthy supply of breastmilk, how to help the baby latch, different breastfeeding positions, and who to call if you need help.

The preparation you receive during prenatal breastfeeding classes will help you prepare physically, mentally and emotionally.  Knowing what to expect - and the resources available to help you along the way - can give you peace of mind before labor and delivery.

In general, prenatal breastfeeding education class topics include

  • Benefits of breastfeeding for parents and newborns
  • Correct positioning to help an infant latch effectively
  • Guidance for parents about anticipated situations and signs of effective breastfeeding or breastfeeding problems.
  • Specific needs in the early days of breastfeeding
  • When to expect your milk supply to come in and what to do if it doesn't
  • 1 Single Session Class
  • Wednesday
  • 6:30 - 9:00 pm CT
  • TeleHealth Virtual Classes
  • Cost per 2 parents:  $50

Registrations must be made 48 hours prior to class date.  Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours from class date.

Susan Nelson, IBCLC, RLC

After obtaining her MS in Computer Science and later breastfeeding her own two children, Susan decided in 2008 that she would prefer working with moms and babies more than working with cold, impersonal computers!  She then set out on the long educational pathway to become certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In addition to seeing clients in her office, client's home, or virtually, Susan currently teaches Breastfeeding Basics for Multiples and Returning to Work Classes.  Another specialized area that Susan enjoys is working with adoptive families for inducing lactation.  Susan, also, offers Lactation Professional Training for the nursing profession and other professions.  She is a volunteer leader for La Leche League support groups for many years.
