VIRTUAL Baby Care Basics Class
VIRTUAL Baby Care Basics Class. This class will teach you all you need to know to care for your newborn. It is the perfect class for expectant parents, grandparents and nannies, au pairs, and other newborn caregivers. Registrations must be made 48 hours in advance.
Help ease the transition from hospital to home. You will learn newborn states and cues, reflexes, bathing, and feeding. You will also learn soothing techniques and safety as well as guidelines for choosing a pediatrician.
- Daily Care: Bathing, diapering, cord care, circ care, and dressing
- Crying: Why do babies cry; swaddling & other soothing & calming techniques.
- Safety: Home, car seat, choosing a pediatrician, & signs of illness.

IN-PERSON: If you prefer an IN-PERSON Class, please choose any date to secure your registration and leave a note with your completed online registration. The instructor will contact you regarding an Austin or Dripping Springs location and date.
Registrations must be made 48 hours in advance. In the event that there are not enough registrations for this class, you will be notified prior to the class. You may choose another date or opt for a private class ($145).
In order to accommodate everyone wishing to register for a class, cancellation must be done 24 hours prior to the class date in order to receive store credit.
Melanie J. Wattles, RN, CIMI, CPMT
Melanie is a Registered Nurse (RN), a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI 1, 2), and a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT). She received her CIMI certification through the International Association of Infant Massage in 2001 and updated her skills in January 2014, with her CIMI2 Certification through WINC Without Borders (World Institute of Nurturing Communication).
Melanie was trained by Tina Allen and received her CPMT through Liddle Kidz Foundation in June 2016. She is also a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse in the UK. She has over 20 years of experience in Pediatric and Neonatal Nursing and is Infant/Child CPR certified.
Melanie’s personal philosophy is to promote Infant/Child Massage to facilitate bonding and to enable all parents, babies, and children to experience the many benefits of massage. Melanie also helping parents and caregivers become more confident in caring for newborns through her BabyStrokes Baby Care Basics Class.
